From the team that brought you Riverona, Full Circle Theatre returns to its classical roots with Shakespeare’s most beloved romantic comedy.

In this witty, whip-smart tale of love, loyalty, and lies, Beatrice and Benedick find themselves caught in a battle of barbs, while Hero and Claudio’s picture-perfect romance threatens to unravel. Trust—both earned and broken—is at the heart of it all.

Set in a world just beyond war’s end, this production explores what happens when the fighting stops but the real emotional stakes begin. Tension simmers beneath every joke, secret, and stolen glance, as friendships, reputations, and relationships are put to the test.

Directed by longtime collaborator John Knight, and featuring Riverona alumni Megan Baldrey and CJ Gordon as Beatrice and Benedick, this Much Ado blends sharp comedy with a darker edge—revealing just how much trust can cost us.

This production is presented in association with The Shakespeare Company, Calgary’s lean and mean classical theatre company, committed to bold, innovative approaches to the Bard’s work.

We are excited to announce Porcelain Dolls, coming to West Village Theatre (2007 10 Ave SW), this spring!

You may have seen Porcelain Dolls in 2017 (it’s that play that takes place in a bathroom at a night club), but trust us—you’ll want to experience it all over again. Fans of Riverona (our hit 2024 production) will love this bold reimagining of Porcelain Dolls, with a new script, a 2012 setting, and an incredible cast that brings the emotional complexity of female friendships to life like never before.

Thank you to everyone who took a chance and came out to audition for a new work. With almost 70 incredible femme performers auditioning for this show, we were absolutely spoiled. Riverona (2023-2024)

Do you love Shakespeare? Do you also love (or love to hate) Riverdale? Finally, how about how the teenagers on every teen drama tv show are essentially played by 30 year olds? (And their parents are played by 35 year olds?)

Y’all. Have we got the project for you!

Riverona will be a 4 “episode” theatrical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, all done up in a teen drama hat. The script seamlessly blends original text with contemporary wit, guaranteed to make you cry laughing. And maybe cry for real. Full Circle Theatre is dissecting tropes and exploring text the most fun way we can.

Riverona: The Complete Box Set (June 26 – July 14, 2024)

We are so excited to announce The Complete Box Set of Riverona, coming to Evergreen Community Spaces (1709 8 Ave NE #2, Calgary, AB T2E 0S9) this summer.

Join us to see the show that will redefine “Summer Shakespeare” this June and July. All four episodes will be delivered in rep!

In 2023, workshop performances of Riverona took Calgary audiences by storm. We are thrilled to announce that we are now performing the full play this summer .
A high concept and hilarious retelling of Romeo and Juliet, this brand-new script has been described as Riverdale meets Wet Hot American Summer meets… well, Shakespeare. Riverona takes all the tropes from your favourite CW tv shows and seamlessly blends them with the original Shakespearean text in a script that is about 30% Shakespeare, 70% our own goofs.
This is serialized theatre – four episodes with four different directors that combine into two full-length plays, all playing in repertory over 15 performances.
